Community Involvement

• Local Employment: IFG employes nearly 1,200 individuals across six locations; five in northern Idaho and one in Mississippi. We support families in rural areas and offer training and apprenticeships that benefit the community by developing a skilled workforce.
• Supplier and Service Contracts: IFG also works with local businesses including logging companies, equipment suppliers, food vendors, printers, and countless more, which strengthens the regional economy.

• Financial Contributions: IFG donates to local schools, charities, and community events. Contributions support things such as education programs, recreational projects, and local infrastructure improvements.
• Material Donations: IFG donates wood and building materials to community projects, such as the construction of local facilities, shelters, and homes for those in need.
• Scholarships: IFG has established scholarship programs for students pursuing forestry or other relevant studies, encouraging youth to remain engaged with the industry and their community.

• Employee Volunteer Programs: IFG supports employees volunteering in their communities. Tree planting, river cleanups, trail maintenance, and speaking to students are some examples of what our teams do.
• Company-Led Initiatives: IFG organizes company-wide volunteer days, where our team take part in trash pick-up, volunteers at community-sponsored events, and gift delivery during the holidays.

• Conservation Efforts: IFG is actively engaged in conservation and sustainable forestry initiatives, collaborating with at the local, state, and federal level to maintain healthy forests, protect watersheds, and ensure long-term access to natural resources.
• We are particularly proud of our donation of a conservation easement that protects nearly 2,000 acres of forested land and 10 miles of a vital tributary to the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River (learn more HERE.)
• Educational Outreach: IFG has close ties with our local school and partner with educators to support environmental education, helping students learn about forestry, sustainability, and the timber industry’s role in the economy. Programs like Sawmills in Schools exemplify this, with students gaining hands-on experience in sawmilling and forest stewardship.

• Resources: IFG provides resources such as wood toward building of homes that are donated to charities.
• Local Food Banks and Shelters:  IFG knows the challenges facing rural communities and regularly contributes to food banks and shelters.
